How Children Learn From Others: Fascinating Facts

Children Learn From Others

Your child is learning from others all the time. Babies are especially taking in all the action and information around them. That’s why it is important to give your baby opportunities to participate in various types of activities. They need to see adults and older children model life skills and good behaviors.

As I began to study Suzuki Early Childhood Education, I was fascinated by the facts and evidence of how the activities helped babies develop and grow. Not only that, it is fascinating that parents and teachers learn as much as the babies. Sometimes, they may learn more…

Modeling Skills for Each Other

Suzuki Early Childhood Education (SECE) Baby Class can give you and your baby the chance to learn life skills through music. Parents learn about music, listening, literacy, and parenting. You will also learn many new things and how to model them for your baby.

Baby Class activities are also a time for your baby to learn about getting along with others. The activities provide natural ways for your child to learn social skills and form relationships.

Baby Class is also designed with a family group atmosphere in mind. Therefore, it is child-centered and allows parents and their babies (0-3 years old) to learn in a non-stressful way.

Modeling is Teaching

The Baby Class program is very flexible. Therefore, the teacher can adapt activities to follow your child’s learning timetable. That way there is never pressure on parent or child to do any activity. It is okay to watch until ready to do the activity.

Baby Class teachers trust the process of modeling the activities/skills. Teachers model for parents. Parents model for their own children.

Older children are usually excited to model for the younger babies. The young babies will want to imitate the older ones. Hence, the children are always learning from others.

All the children are also learning to listen carefully. Your baby will listen to the words of a rhyme or song. They will begin to listen for directions. Their attention span will grow longer as well. All this helps them begin to learn language.

Every Baby Class activity has a skill for your baby to learn. The musical activities will help your baby learn to keep a steady beat or do an action on a specific beat.

Another activity teaches the concept of up and down. Many of the activities involve movement, changing directions, and playing instruments. These are all important for your baby to learn spatial awareness.

So, as you model these activities for your baby, you are teaching them the activity itself. More importantly, you are helping them develop their bodies and brains as well.

Fascinating Facts About the Benefits of Baby Class

As you can see, there are many benefits to Suzuki ECE Baby Class. There are physical and brain development activities. But, babies also learn social, emotional, and life skills.

Circle songs teach your little one cooperation and getting along with others. Some activities teach self-control. The children learn to wait their turn. Sometimes, they may not always get a turn on a particular activity.

Of course, little babies probably don’t really understand about taking turns. But, one day they will! It will be to their benefit to learn early by watching others take turns.

The most important Baby Class benefit to you and your baby will be learning empathy (the ability to sense or feel what another person is feeling).

The older children develop empathy for the little ones. The younger babies see them model empathy. Parents develop empathy towards each other.

Sometimes, our children don’t always participate. They won’t do the things we know they can do. On more than one occasion, they are going to become upset. There is a silent communication between parents that is very important.

Parents must model empathy toward each other when these things happen with their children.

There are activities that require the children to share. Rolling the ball to others or passing around a small stuffed animal activities are two examples. Even babies will want to keep hold of the ball or animal.

But, again, they see others sharing. They also learn to do the same.

Children Learn to Share From Their Hearts

The Baby Class activities can help your baby learn to share from their heart. They will want to share because it is the right thing to do and not just because it is the rule.

Your child will see the joy on another face when they share. They will also find joy for themselves when they do.

You will learn to encourage the development of your baby’s character and personality. Both you and your child will learn how to form relationships with others.

However, the most important relationship formed will be the deeper relationship between you and your baby.

Dr. Shinichi Suzuki’s had a great wish for all the children of the world and their parents. He hoped that through learning music, you and your baby would develop beautiful hearts and high ability together.

So, model empathy, cooperation, generosity, and kindness for your child to imitate. Our world is in desperate need of people with those traits and skills.

“Thoughtful parents, for the sake of their children, seek to make their own hearts true and to illuminate the best paths for living, which is the real way to love.”

Shinichi Suzuki
