Genuine Parental Involvement Nurtures a Happy Baby
Every parent wants to nurture their happy baby with genuine parental involvement. You’re a busy parent and you would like to do activities with your child. But, you aren’t sure what kind of activities to do. You’re also probably wondering when you’ll find the time to do them.
Would you like to learn be involved in these activities to nurture your baby?
You already know that being an involved parent is important to your child. But, you may not realize that you need to be more involved with your child’s life experiences. It’s much sooner than you may think.
Even before birth, your baby is depending on you to love and take care of them. Then, from birth, they need you to give them all the experiences possible. These experiences will help their brain develop and grow.
Did you know that your baby’s school readiness begins before they’re even born? That’s right! Their brain is developing before they’re born.
Then from birth to three years old, their brain develops the most rapidly. In fact, it will never develop that quickly ever again. So keep that thought in your mind. It’s critical to make sure that your child can explore and learn in a loving and safe environment.
Genuine Parental Involvement Is Critical
Parental Involvement Is Critical is one of the Suzuki Early Childhood Education (SECE) concepts. Dr Shinichi Suzuki believed that parents needed to be much more involved in their young child’s education. He thought this, even back in the 1930’s, way before it became the popular notion that it is now.
As he began to teach very young children to play violin, he developed his Mother-Tongue approach to education. His ideas led him to have different expectations of parents compared to the traditional way of teaching an instrument.
If you took in any kind of musical instruction on an instrument with a traditional teacher, it probably went something like this:
- one of your parents dropped you off at your lesson
- you had your lesson
- one of your parents picked you up
- they may or may not have reminded you to practice
- they paid the bill
- and they showed up to a couple of recitals a year to show their their love and support for you.
The Suzuki philosophy of teaching an instrument focuses more on you and your child learning together. It is not a separate activity for your child. Dr. Suzuki asked parents to take notes during their child’s lesson.
They also learned to play violin. That way they would have an active role in practicing with their child at home. In fact, parents become the home teacher.
However, you don’t have to wait until your child begins to study an instrument. SECE Baby Class activities can be an excellent start to being genuinely involved with your baby.

“Your Musical Baby” Class Guides You to Genuine Parental Involvement Nurturing Your Baby
The “Your Musical Baby” Class that I teach incorporates all of these ideas and even more from the Suzuki philosophy. Dr Suzuki’s greatest desire for all the children of the world was for the important adults in their lives to be more involved.
His goal was to nurture a fine character in the children and help them develop high ability. He wanted children to develop high ability not just in music, but in any area of learning.
In exploring and learning, your baby will develop curiosity persistence, empathy, cooperation, problem solving skills, and life skills. My goal is to guide you and your baby to learn these things through musical activities.
In “Your Musical Baby” Class, you both grow to become lifelong learners together and develop a deeper relationship with each other.
